Picnic & Rock Swap

picnic-4_edited.jpg

Our first annual club picnic was an evening affair held on August 21, 1974 at the county park at Elma Meadows. Subsequently, moved to a Saturday in September, it has become a full day event starting at noon.

While swapping tall tales and specimens are popular activities at the picnic the main appeal remains the “cookout”. The pass a dish style dinner is supplemented by club provided soft drinks, and staples including corn, hot dogs and hamburgers.

You don’t have to be a geologist to love this experience!
